Dental jets are uncanny at first because it’s like when you go to the dentist, but you’ll get used to it and will not pass without them after the first experience.
Basically it’s like a tiny pressure washer, the kind you use at the car wash, so they could be a pain to use if you don’t do it right. You need learn how your jet works prior to start using it. Read the manual twice.
Some have buttons on the hand piece to turn the water off, even while the machine is still working: leave the item on the whole time and hold the button whenever you have it out of your mouth, or else you will need to turn it on and off as directed below. Also, do not change the standard open end attachment.
Let’s get started. It’s as easy as 1-2-3:
1. Hold it at a 45 degree angle from your gums and close your mouth or else you will make a nice mess! Turn on the jet and move it along your top outside, bottom outside, bottom inside and top inside gums. Adjust the pressure to the level that is most comfortable to you. The higher the best, as long as it doesn’t cause you pain. With your mouth full of water, lean over to the sink and let it fall from your mouth.
2. Turn off the jet and switch it to a setting directs even more finely. Run this one along your gums in the same manner as the last, except focus on the area between teeth more than the actual gums.
3. Turn the jet off and this time switch to the tongue scraper. Stick out your tongue over the sink and run the jet over it but do not go so far that or you’ll gag!
Congratulations: your mouth is now cleaner the any previous flossing.
